Indian and Pakistani leaders are meeting in Russia
.Indian premier Manmohan Singh and Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari will both be in Yekaterinburg for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. The suggestion of a meeting comes after Singh told parliament last week India would meet Pakistan “more than halfway” if it cracked down on Islamic militants operating against India. The last high level India-Pakistan meeting took place in September when Singh met Zardari on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which Moscow and Beijing have used to counter Western influence in the energy-rich region, is comprised of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In addition to Iran, Pakistan, India and Mongolia are observer nations.
